Default Help!

Ok All...this might be the newest newbie question EVER but I need help! I'm freaking out over here...shot all my pics this weekend in RAW and now am not able to open the images on my computer...What happened???

You need the right type of software to open the RAW files.
There may be something on the CD that came with your camera. What have you got?

If you shoot Canon then there's a program on the CD called Digital Photo Professional that can open and process RAW files.

you can also get gimp for free off of the internet. If you can't afford photoshop then you should have gimp anyway for PP Also nice to meet you, my wifes name is Emily ))

If you can't find your camera maker's CD, or find the utility on their website, you could get IrfanView, which is an Open Source program that is capable of reading RAW files and saving to other formats with some tweaks. There's even a nice batch processing mode.

Wow, you guys are the best! Thank you all for being so nice to this newbie...I found my canon cds and will see what I can do with them. I think I'm going to try IrfanView as well. I'm so used to just being able to open the images right up I wasn't sure if I had done something wrong or what!
