Default One-Off Post Cards with your Own Images

My wife Anne wanted Thank You cards to send out for our 35'th anniversary. Decided that it was cheaper (and cooler) to have cards of my own image, produced at Fine Art America - - - and so we had 25 cards printed of our "Rooster on Porch" shot from Costa Rica.

The order was placed on May 16'th and arrived at our Ontario Canada home on Friday May 27'th - so not too bad. Vibrant colour, envelopes included, and it came in a beautiful black box as seen in the picture below. Beauty is that one card can be purchased also at only a slightly higher price than multiples. Anne says she won't be buying cards at a store any longer.

For all photographers who wish to have such an ability available, I think this is a really nice online service and as long as you stay under 25 of your favourite images - it's free to have an account and benefit from what they offer (I just have the freeby account). While you can charge whatever you like for others to order prints and cards from the site - your cost for a set of 25 postcards as I received today, is only $1.50 each and even with shipping to Canada was only $44.05 in total - - Fine Art America

I heard good things about Moo.com also and will probably give them a try in the future. Nice being able to put different images on each card for the same quantity price.

One nice thing about FineArtAmerica is that there is no need to purchase a minimum number of post cards. I had a single made up and shipped to me for $8.73 complete ($3.50 for the card plus shipping to Canada). Yes - a little more than you might buy a single Hallmark card for - but it's not bad for a custom card with your own image on it. Of course they are really set up for selling prints of your images to others who order direct. Sure is nice having these different options available though.

not bad for a custom card. I've spent more.

I use the full sized moo business cards for work and the mini-moos for my blog cards. A box of 200 with as many of my photos as I want. Custom fonts and colors. Less than $25 for 200 including shipping. I'm on my 2nd batch. I've gotten work strictly due to a client remembering my "cool cards"

Nice cards on your web site, why not just say it is your business? Nothing wrong with that.

Moo are good, but I find GoodPrint are cheaper - usually if you tweet them they'll give you 60% off too :P I get all my B/cards done there. Yesterday, I was very highly recommended Direct Colour - Litho Printing, Business Card, Brochure Printing Surrey, London for advertsiing material, apparently they have really fast turn arounds and good prices. The woman I spoke ordered one of those pull up exhibition stand thingies on a Wednesday and it turn up special custom courier on the Thursday PM.

... heh, Firefox flags "arounds" as a typo, but "thingies" is fine :P

I am not posting this to promote my business or post cards on the forum. My livelihood comes through my wedding and portrait business - not through the few art prints or post cards that I may sell during the course of a year.

I can see why you may have presumed that as I copied an updated post about this, from a website of mine that included my personal Fine Art America link - - - when if fact I was just wanting to include a link to Fine Art America so that any photographer might find their website and have a place to display their images and benefit from the services they offer.

I am very pleased with their online product and have recommended their website to other photographers that I know as well as to friends of mine who are serious photographers - so they can make use of it. I have gone in to my original post and changed the link to be to the proper website now. Thank you for bringing that to me attention.

Of course there a ton of excellent printers to provide products to photographers. I think that the hard thing to find are ones who will do one-offs and not have any setup charges or minimums. It is a reason that I like Blurb and also a reason that I am now using Fine Art America for some purposes. Their products or bulk prices may not be the equal of what you would get from a custom printery - but in my view plenty of good enough and reasonable enough to consider for those who don't wish to invest in stock of such products.

BTW - thanks to all for the extra links being provided - - - nice to know about them.
