Default Correcting skin redness.

Im just going through some old pictures, and just wanted to redo some of the post processing as Im not really happy with my preveous results.

Im wondering how can i get rid of the redness on the baby's skin. I tried smoothing the skin, it helps a tiny bit but there are still some red/purplish areas that I wish I could get rid off.

When I look at some professional photos of newborns, they all seem to have perfectly even skin, and Im sure its all done in post processing, as pretty much all babies are born with some red spots and etc..

I have lightroom and PS, any tips on using these two to help me get the results I want will be appreciated...

Here's the shot that Im currently workin on, and I would like to get rid of the redness around the mouth, and just generally make the skin more even looking. Feel free to play with the image if you'd like.

two pieces probably need to be addressed as separate functions...skin smoothing and color correction. For localized color correction, paint with a complementary color to neutralize...for red, add green. Adjusting the opacity/strength/color to get the blend looking good. There are probably other good methods for localized color correction using masks and the like.

Also try a targeted colour adjustment (Saturation and/or luminosity) in Lightroom

on my monitor, it looks a bit dark. i adjusted in levels and added another layer. with the eyedropper, select the light portion of the skin and with a soft brush set to 5% brush over the uneven skin on the empty layer. select the white bg and desaturate the cyan cast.

a sample.

Theres many ways to do this one approach is to add a new saturation adjustment and desaturate the reds a little bit and I do mean a little bit moderation is key. Next create a layer group and in this create your skin adjustments so using the lasso tool select a patch of skin that has a colour imbalance and then feather your selection by a hight amount 20 or even more add a curves adjustment to your group and using curves on r g and b channels correct the area. Repeat for each spot.

Its not the quickest way though

I'd convert it to black and white and go for a high key look but then I'm lazy and very bad with color correction in post.
