Default colorchecker passport and WB

I can't find this answer anywhere and x-rite still hasn't replied to my email.

Im thinking about getting a colorchecker passport, however I already have a photovision WB calibrating tool.

So my questions is, can I color correct by doing a custom WB only or is it a good idea to do a color correction with the colorchecker passport in addition to the custom WB?

thanks
R.

I think its in the name the colour checker contains a set number of colours you can reference off to achieve a certain red value for example.because you know what it should be which is handy if you get a white balance thats got multiple colour casts. The white balance tool does just that white grey. I would hazzard a guess you could get the colour checker as a one tool fits all it has white and grey on the card.

Maybe someone with these tools may be able to give more insight
