Default can you recommend an editing program? pls

hello,

Ive very recently bought my self a new camera, my first dslr, a canon 1000d, which im really happy with.

I mainly take pics of the family, and im looking for an editing program where i can do things like remove odd things from the backgrounds, remove blemishes, and brighten eyes.
Im definatly not looking for a profesional software programe, and cant spend £100's, maybe max of £100.00

can anyone suggest a good programe? Im looing to buy, not download, as most downloads seem to be full of bugs!!

thankyou in advance

Check out either Lightroom or Photoshop Elements.

For pixel-level changes I would recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements, which is less than $100US. GIMP or Paint.Net are free alternatives you can download from the internet (google them.)

Note that removing objects can be time-consuming and tricky and isn't usually an easy thing to do. Elements can do a reasonably good job, depending on the object, using the content-aware healing brush. You can download a free 30-day trial from Adobe.

Elements would be a good start... If you decide to move up later there may be a discount on full Photoshop upgrades. You might be able to find an older version too. Why pay for the latest and greatest if you aren't going to use it to it's full potential? Find a dissaffected college student who was majoring in art, only to have found a job in medical billing. He might sell you his old copy of Photoshop for cheap, lol.

You can download the free trial of Elements 9 here. That way you can try it out and then if you like it, you can purchase it when the trial is over.

Or PaintShop Pro, which costs a lot less than Elements and lets you use adjustment layers and all the other common editing tools
