Default General Lighting flair

Does anyone know how to get rid of the lighting flair from the street lights in this image? I"m using Photoshop CS5. I didn't see anything in the tutorials and I haven't been able to find anything online. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nope. It could probably be done with a TON of work...

Get it right in the camera. Problem solved.

Certain lenses do this at their smaller aperture settings naturally (I know my 10-24 does). It depends on whether the aperture blades are straight or curved at that aperture. Straight, and you get lines. Curved, you dont.

You can also get a star filter for a lens.

there is nothing better than getting it right during the photography stage. but you're asking how to photoshop this image, then you can just use the clone tool and with a soft brush set to 70% so there will be still some faint streaks, brush on the streaks using the sky as your source point. on the left side use the leaves as your source point. after this use the brush tool, set to the softest and adjust the diameter smaller than the lights and click on the center with white, set the brush opacity to 80%. straighten the building on the left. it looks like it is leaning to the right.
hope this can help you.

Wow! Thanks for the tips. I guess i'll have to play around with the aperture a bit more.

Nice edit, by the way.

Nice edit, but I prefer the original as is over one without the "stars". Probably because the upper rt 1/4 is so "empty" without them and the image becomes more unbalanced.

I prefer the original. The "stars" look really pretty!
