Default How to get rid of noise?

It was a Mexican Pacific League game between Ciudad Obregon Yaquis (home) and Mazatlan Venados (visitor). It was a close play that unfortunately for us (home) was a safe, the firstbaseman couldn't keep the ball in the glove.

CHIN!!!! Fue safe!!!

Shutter 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture: f/5.0
Focal length: 138.5 mm
ISO: 3200
Compensation: 0 EV

My lens is a Nikkor VR 55-200 f/4-5.6... Unfortunately that wasn't enough to keep the ISO below the 3200 setting and being able to freeze motion. (I drooled for a 200 f/2.8 of one the local press guys but I have to stick with this one... for now, anyway).

Any tips on how to get rid of that big chunk of noise on PP? a particular tool to use?

1. The current noise reduction capabilities of ACR are really great. If you didn't shoot RAW, it will be tougher.

2. Download the trial of Noise Ninja.

3. Download the trial of Topaze DeNoise.

4. Download the trial of Noiseware.

5. Download the trial of (well, by now you get the idea.)

One way of dealing with it is to temporarily change the image color mode to LAB. The in the channels remove noise in the individual channels leaving luminance alone (or doing very little to that channel). You can remove noise using a blur or noise filter.
Less treatment is usually better.

Thank you very much to both of you... I'll give it a shot with these options.

And while you're at it, be sure to change those uniform pants from pink to white.
