Gimp has content aware fill too. If you download Gimp, look for the resynthesize tool in Sourceforge. If you are using a Windows machine, there is a precompiled version you can download and drop in to your Plugin directory. It works really well.

That is probably because you were using a hard edged brush, use a fuzzy brush and see how you go.

I use Gimp for now because I refused to pay for something until I learned how to use it. I am cheap like that ) Slowly I am learning how to do everything and soon I will buy Elements. It is actually on sale for $50.00 for Black Friday so maybe I will take the plunge an early Christmas gift for myself ) Gimp is great considering it is free..........
