Default Calibration

I assume the answer will be 'yes' to calibrating your screen if you are serious about pro photography whether on a PC or MAC?

The two programs seem to be Spyder and Pantone?

Does it matter which I buy for my Mac?

No need to purchase anything for a Mac. The Calibration is built in.

Go to “System Preferences” click on “Displays” click on “Colours” and follow instructions for calibration.

I've mentioned it many times before, all sorts of reasons for buying a Mac. That is one of them.
