Can i save in raw in cs5

I have been asked to send a picture that has been edited in raw format, now when i try to save in raw in cs5 it saves as normal. then when i try to open it all i can get is lines across the screen with a general outline of the picure JUST visable.

can i save in raw or is it just for the raw processor?

any help much appreciated

Nope, best bet is Tiff, but it will be a very large file (especially if you save the layers)...usually to big to send via e-mail or similar.

Could the OP not save in Photoshop .RAW and if so would it accomplish the goal? That's one of the options available in CS4 but i've never looked as CS5.

Never mind SK66. I just re-read the post and I see OP has already tried that.

cheers for the replys, just wondered if i was missing a plugin or update, well tiff or jpeg depending on how they want it.

Just to clarify, "photoshop raw" is an old format from when transferring files between computers was more difficult due to limited file support.
It is a "headerless" Tiff file and has limitations (color space, alpha channels, layers etc). You must make sure all of the requirements are met and fill out the "header" block correctly upon save AND opening....PITA for what is just a "limited tiff" anyways. It is usable but pointless.
