Default A black background!

Hi everyone, I'm new to photography and I don't really love post production unless it's really necessary. I don't have much experience with programs like Photoshop and so on, but sometimes I do think my pictures might look better with a dark background but I don't really know how to do it....Can someone please help me!! Thank you !!

Hello,
So you can
1) shoot it with a dark background - this will almost always give you better results than creating it in post
2) you can use paint a mask and adjust the selected area (or it's inverse depending on what is easier to mask)
3) you can create layers where one layer is BG and darken it
There are tons of ways to daken the layer from exposure, curves to layer blending modes.
That was kind of a generic answer, so if you have a more specfic question fire away...and/or if you have an image in mind, post it here and ask for some assistance. There are a lot of really talented folks here that can show you examples of how they would create the solution.
