Default replacing background using PSE7?

hey everyone, I'm new to photography and pse7. I have a shot of an antique tow truck with another classic truck in tow, but the background is awful. Its basically a roadside snapshot that I'd like to salvage with further post processing to make it look like a vintage shot. I figured this would be the ideal thing to learn with...I think. Is there any easier way to delete the background without manually erasing? My hand-mouse-eye coordination makes it look a little choppy.

thanks in advance,
S~Z

Most people find that the easiest way to do an extraction is with a layer mask. However that is a feature that is not available in PSE only full photoshop. But I have this layer mask action that works nicely. She has included instructions for use in the download.
(I think this is the right link to the download, if not let me know)

Just FYI, they've added layer masks in Elements 9.

Thanks again for the link but I ended up using a video tutorial I found on you tube instead.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiO92slDhjw

I found using a video tutorial to be so much easier than written instruction.

I've managed to replace the background with one that I thought the lighting was similar, but it still doesn't look right. It still looks super-imposed. Now I'm looking for suggestions on making the image blend in better. The scale of the wheat does not look right because I was crouching down to shoot the landscape. I'm going to shrink the trucks and move them back into the field but I dont know how to sink it into the wheat so it doesnt look like its hovering above it. (please disregard the specks of dirt from the lens, I haven't removed them yet)

Should I create a partial layer of wheat to cover the lower section of the trucks?

Any suggestions on how to make this work would be appreciated.

And for some uber-annoying reason, this site wont let me upload the photo even though it fits within the parameters!! It's a jpg well below the allowable file size. I get this; "classic towtruck on wheatfield resized.jpg:
This is not a valid image file. " grrrr
