Default How to resize without crop?

I use Photoshop Elements 6 and I need to resize just over 500 images, but I'm having difficulty.

I need to resize the images to approximately 75% of their original size, without cropping. I attempted using the Process multiple files option, but it keeps cropping my images (and this will just not do!) I need to get these done by the end of the week and I'd really like to avoid doing it one image at a time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you're not opposed to using a new tool (because I don't have Elements), you could use the batch mode in IRFanView to scale all the images down.

Here's a good IRFanView batch resizing tutorial.

I'm not sure if Elements has it, but the standard Photoshop has a Batch Automate function that will run Actions on all opened files.

If Elements has this, all you need to do is make a new Action, hit the Record button, resize one image as normal, then go to File > Automate > Batch and run the action through that.

Try using "Fit" if elements has it and set the dimensions to 75% of the pixels on the long side of your photos.

I batch process my files with the fit command all the time in PS.

There is also a “canvas size” option in case you want a frame around your photo.
None of those methods work well in batches.

For multiples go to batch mode:

Batch Image Resize

It’s much easier in Lightroom. You simply adjust the first photo, highlight the rest and synch.

If you are printing, you or the printer can adjust size % in print controls.

I use Faststone photo resizer... very easy and handy. Find it at Faststone.com

The problem with these methods is that they don't handle images of mixed orientation well in batches. The fit command can.

What you describe in LR, sounds like cropping and then syncing which is exactly what the OP says is not the desired method.

That said, in LR, you can use export settings to re-size images rather than crop them. There is no way in LR to re-size an image outside of cropping or the export dialog that comes to mind.

LOL

I use all of the above methods all the time and they work well including export and export to print.

Evidently, we have different versions of LR and Photoshop.

Or, it may have something to do with reading into a post what one wants to see.

I invite you to make a screen capture video of the process in LR. I don 't think it exists, but am more than happy to be wrong, but only if you can prove it.

Screenflow even has a free trial you can use.
