Default Can't Open RAW Files

I recently upgraded from Nikon D40 to D90. While I had no trouble at all opening RAW images through Camera Raw from my D40, I cannot open them from my D90. Has anyone had this problem? I downloaded the software that came with the camera, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try uninstalling the software for the D40 and uninstalling the software for the D90 then reinstalling the software for the D90. Might just be a conflict somewhere...

I used the supplied software as I thought maybe that was the problem. Turns out, it still doesn't open RAW images.

I think I would try and download a trial version of something like Lightroom and try and open the RAW files from your D90. If you still can't open them then maybe you have a problem with the card or camera.

Can you open jpegs from the D90 OK? That should rule out the card at least.

I can open JPEGS from the D90, so I don't think it's the card. I downloaded an update for Camera Raw but still isn't opening the Raw files. Ugh!!! I hate this kind of stuff

Try downloading the free Adobe DNG convertor and converting the NEF files to DNG. You don't lose any quality or data.

Pardun my ignorance, but what is DNG?
