Default Cropping....

I use CS5 and so I know how easy it is to crop with a set aspect ratio AND a set resolution. My question is, I have a friend who doesn't have PS and I want to show him how to crop like you can in PS, with the ratio and resolution. I've looked at infraView and a Canon app, but they don't seem to do both.

Can anyone recommend a program that is relatively easy to use and crop like PS. I appreciate any help here..........thanks

GIMP allows you to crop at a certain size or an aspect ration. You can also turn on guides.

Thanks to all, I think I'll set him up with Picasa and see if he can handle it. Now I see more reason why PS is the best!

Thanks again............

I'm just curious how getting several alternatives to PS, that all cost far less per crop, makes PS the best.

It's not, it's just what most use, technically BetaMax is far far superior than VHS, that's why people that are serious use it.

It's all about marketing, just look how many Apple Macs get sold, at twice the price for the same (or less) functionality Apple do a good job of convincing people they are worth paying extra for.

The thing is my friend wanted a program, preferably free, that could crop with a set resolution. He is a newbie to image editing and I didn't want to overwhelm him something like PS. I tried several of those apps that were suggested and I thought Picasa was pretty easy to navigate. I just wanted something for him to do the basics.
I've been using PS for several years and those other apps are far inferior to PS...........just my 2 cents........
