Default Photo Book

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a software application that'll help me create photo books. I've previously used mypublisher and blurb to make and BUY books. I am currently looking for one that'll help me with the layouts and save to JPG instead of printing books. I'd also like to share my creations online.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I am working on something that I plan to share on this forum next week covering this exact topic.
But short story, I use photoshop elements to individually create all of my photobook pages.
If you stick around for a couple of days, I am going to cover a lot of this, like where to buy templates, tool kits, bleed information and all that. I am just waiting for some quite time when the kids are in school so that I can actually think clearly.

I am assuming you are looking for a DIY software, for casual photobooks, not professional ones to offer your clients? Have you tried the photo sharing sites?

I've used both Adobe Photoshop and QuarkXPress. Also, there's Aperture 3 (for Mac users) which has both editing tools, organization and book layout tools too. I hear Adobe InDesign is good too.

I use InDesign and a number of other Adobe programs. Many book publishers have their own programs. Some are better than others.

InDesign is generally the go to program for layout and desktop book publishing.
It just takes a lot know-how to utilize it all, especially in a typographic sense (but you probably don't need to worry about that much). It's especially nice since companies like Blurb will take your fully designed InDesign book and print that.

I don't think too many people really use Quark anymore, but that's ID's main competition.
