Default Post Processing Tutorial

Hi everyone, this is the first time I try and post a tutorial but I shared this image in SYS and someone seggested I post a tutorial about how I took it, so, here goes!

Here is the final image:

falling to pieces

And this is how I did it:

Basically, I used Photoshop. I took the picture of me in the chair, against my wall. Then, using the pen tool I cut myself out of the picture. (of course if you have studio with a white background the whole cutting oput thing can be eliminated and you can work directly on the original).
Then I opened a new document with a white background and dragged the cut out portion onto that. I put it into position and cleaned it up a little, adjusted the levels and curves a tad, dodged where I thought I was a bit too dark then duplicated the layer.
I put the top layer of me onto Screen, leaving the opacity at 90% fill at 100%, but you can experiment with other ones until you get the look you like.
I then deselected the white background layer and merged the two images of me. At this point you get the fun part of breaking me up into pieces
Choose the lasso tool and select a piece you want to break off, just a little jagged and not too big. The select the move tool and move it off, leaving some white space. For the pieces of the chair I also used free transform to rotate them. Once you have broken up what you need to break up, select the layer with the person and go to Blending Options>Drop Shadow. Adjust it until it is the way you like it. Then, after checking that all is good, flatten image and voilà!
Mission accomplished!

Hope you like my first ever tutorial
