My biggest question is this: Is Content-Aware Fill all it's cracked up to be?

Yes, I think so. Check out what inkista did.

I was wondering where those hits were coming from.
![]() Yeah, my hair was blown back. Two simple select & deletes, and I was done. It was awesome. However, it didn't help at all when it came to erasing the ghost (on the right side, to the left and below the red dot). When I tried to do a content-aware fill of that area, it grabbed the tourists to the left and shoved them in. It's not a cure-all. But it does beat the hell out of cloning and patching for some stuff. I am seriously looking forward to using it for xenith/nadir patches on cubic panos. If you want a more detailed demo of content-aware fill, this pre-release demo by Adobe Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes does a better job. I was merely aping what he does in the demo with a stitched pano (around the 4:00 mark):

In my tests I didn't find it to be all it's cracked up to be. On the images I used it on, I had to use small sections and do it bit by bit or it seemed to get confused. I imagine it probably takes more practice with it and learning the best way to do it and the right kind of images. And more RAM... lots more RAM than I have on the computer I tried it on
![]() However, inkista's image looks great and it seemed to work really well there!

So far I like it quite nicely! But since it was free there was no sense in not upgrading LOL

CS5 upgrade is totally worth it. I haven't see that much change since photoshop comes into CS.
Content aware fill is great. Even the spot healing tool with content aware is awesome for editing old scratch etc in old picture. I tried removing the power lines in my picture, it looks so seamless after it was removed. |
