yea, I whack.
I am having serious trouble with the colors lightroom is exporting. I recently shot my niece's baptism, and the lighting in the church wasn't optimal, so I knew I had some LR tweaking to do. Luckily, I shot in RAW and jPEG. This was my first real go around with RAW, and after editing, I was actually happy with the results... until I exported them to jpeg. What looked great in LR looked horrible in the exported files, everyone was dark and reddish. I tried all 3 colorspaces (sRGB, AdobeRGB 1998, and ProPhotoRGB) and they all looked bad. I even tried tiffs. So thinking it was something to do with the RAW conversion, I just sat here and edited the original jpegs, till I again was happy with what I saw in LR, but it still exported crap. I'm using beta2 of LR3. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong? I don't claim to be a LR expert. Please help! Thank you!

This may be a dumb question, but have you messed with the white balance at all? I find that my D5000 shoots a little hotter than I prefer when I use the "Auto" whitebalance setting. I have glued a gray piece of paper to a thin slat of wood to carry in my gadget bag so I can now use the "Preset" setting for the white balance, and change it as the light changes during a shoot. Take a look at adjusting the white balance in LR. You might be able to get the reddish tinge out by going a little cooler.

Which viewer do you use? When having discrepancies between LR and exports, it's a matter of color management most of the time.
To make it short: IrfanView sucks (no color management), FastStone is okayish (converts embedded profile to sRGB), XnView seems to work fine. When in doubt, have a look at it in Photoshop or ViewNX. You also may have instaleld a strange monitor profile. |
