Pinning down 'Lomo"

What else does this photo need to simulate that inexpensive Lomo look?

Maybe less colour and more softness. I know the picture isn't a rainbow of colours but the orange is still quite strong. Also, I think the picture probably looks too sharp for simulating a cheap lens.

Having said that, I am not sure you will even get it looking that convincing - can you do macro photos with a Lomo camera?

All in all, I think it is a fantastic picture as it is - personally, I would be very content to leave it right there.

Perhaps there are too few elements in the picture to give it a very distinctive lomo look. I haven't tried the lomo effect yet, so I'm, not sure about this.

All of the above: I'm geared the other way, to improve the quality. Most lomos leave me wondering what the attraction is. This was almost painful.

And the ones I remember were of old machinery of some kind, so the effect worked there. There's an old frontloader out back I may try it with.

I think the work you have done works well; on the original, the pin is rather small but cropping, rotating, changing the colour curve and vignetting all combine to make it into a much stronger image. I don't think you would fool a lomo-ista and, with this result, I really don't think that matters.

However, I will be interested to see how you get on with a different subject.
