With what program are you trying to open the files?

Most likely an issue with the software not recognizing your raw format. You probably need to either update the software or download a codec for your specific camera.

RAW is a proprietary file format for each camera and the image editing software you're using must be able to recognize and convert those RAW files into a standardized workable format before you can do anything with them.

The D60 has been around for awhile so Photoshop (or ACR - Adobe Camera RAW) would be able to work with the RAW files.

Which photo editor are you using? Not all editors have the ability to work with RAW files.

The software that came with your camera should allow you to read and process the files.

If you use Nikon, use the disk Software Suite DW06 and later.
If you use Canon, use the EOS Digital Solutions Disk and selectively install (not all, but this one only...) the Digital Photo Professional 3.1 or later.
They will open the RAW files from your camera.
