need help taking pics of children & senior pics

I am brand new @ this. I have a Canon Rebel XSI. The lens i have are sigma 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6II macro, sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 Macro super & canon ef 18-55mm.

I am wanting to take pictures of my grandbaby & other children & also senior pics of a family member.

I'm so clueless when it comes to the manual settings & half the time don't understand the settings.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to what I set my f/stop & app on to take these type of pics?

Look thought these articles, try out some of the ideas. Also really get to know your camera, read your manual play around with your camera for a week or two then go back and re-read it. It will make more sense and reinforce your understanding of the operational controls.
