I have been admiring a fellow photographer's work, but when I have emailed to ask her questions, she is reluctant to share anything with me. Understandable, but I am in Texas and she is in Utah, so there is little to no risk that we will ever work in the same market. Oh well...
I have tried to replicate this lighting in my studio using strobes. I am mainly using one medium sized softbox on camera left, bouncing light off my creamy ceiling for overall light and a tiny bit of hair lighting, and I still can't get it. I have tried to zoom in on the catch lights, but still can't tell. My question is - does this look like it was achieved with one huge softbox, or is this natural light from camera right?

It's a big softbox or window camera right, on-axis with the baby's shoulders. Looks like fill cards in front of the camera

Looks like one giant soft box coming from her catchlights... i doubt its window light... BUT it could be. The light fall off ... in my opinion suggest a large soft box camera right and perhaps a large reflector camera left to catch some of the shadows...
