Default pre-wedding photo shoot

OK, I need some major help. My friend who is getting married in August has just asked me to take some photos of them a couple days before the wedding. I have read through many threads here regarding various issues. They are not looking for exceptional shots, just some memories. However I would like to make the pictures as nice as possible. Here is the big problem; I have only gotten into photography about 2 months ago and really have no idea what I am doing. I have done much more reading than practicing up to this point but will begin to take more pictures as my schedule has lightened up a bit. I currently have a Nikon D40 with the 18-55 kit lens and a 55-200 lens. So I have a couple of questions.

1. Which lens should I use?
2. Should I use a lens hood?
3. Any special considerations for a filter? (The wedding is in the Bahamas, pictures on the beach)
4. Anything else?

PLEASE HELP

#1. It doesn't matter which lens

#2. Always use a lenshood

#3. You don't need filters

What you might consider is something I do for every wedding couple-I make a romantic shot of the pair prior to the wedding day;print this out 6 x 4, and mount it in the centre of a 16 x 20 mount board, and give to the bride on the wedding day,so that wedding guests can add their signatures all around the photo. Makes a nice alternative to a guest book which they can frame.

Regards, Ken
