Default What to do with...

sunset in peoples eyes.

Here is the story.
A) I have a couple. They wanted their 25th anniversary photo's done, but they hid behind their sunglasses almost the whole time.

B) We went into the prairie with some beautiful tall grasses, and the sun was beginning to set. Nice and warm.

C) They kept their sunglasses on. But here is the problem. They don't look good in sunglasses. They love their pictures, but for the next set of portraits that I do simualr to that one, how can I keep them from squinting and still get the effect of the setting sun?? (And avoid the sunglasses)

If you want to see what I am talking about:

It's a bit of a slide show thingy, but you do not have to look at it... I just want to know what to do about squnity people and the setting sun. Thanks for your time and for your comments.

The sunglasses do detract from the portrait. Did they refuse to take them off? Was there any shade trees nearby? Maybe not in a field. You could keep the sun at their backs, creating a hairlight effect or to the side and use a reflector on the other side to light up their faces. Squinting may not be as bad as you think if you catch them laughing where their eyes might naturally squint anyway. Of course there are always portraits that don't show their face such as full figure from the back, close up of holding hands, etc.

Oh, about the sunglass question, they were reluctant... I could tell they were trying to hid behind them. Such a bummer. I need to learn how to draw people out and also make them feel comfortable infront of the camera.
