arrghh it's hideous!! Fetch your pitch-forks people!!!!
No, just kidding I've no idea how long your head is supposed to be, but it certainly doesn't look grotesque in any way, it's actually a neat picture.Your expression kinda looks like a curious cat investigating the camera. I wouldn't be surprised to see a paw about to touch the camera lens

Any comments on the faux two-bowl ring light?
I'm going to remake it this week trying to be more careful with keeping the foil smoother and cleaner and use a better rounder outer bowl. I'm not sure the quicky slapped together version I made last night was throwing enough light to really get the effect right.

are you meaning the light circles around your pupils? did you fire the flash through the back of a bowl with the back cut out, and another in front of that? almost like a )) (like two "c" 's spooning sort of a shape?) clever idea! looks good...

Unfortunately, I'm pretty uncrafty, so the face I still have enough fingers left to push the shutter after dealing with hard plastic and box cutters makes this project more successful than most.

Not sure how long your head is. It does look a bit distorted though. Cool catchlights from the ringflash. Nice angle. I've always wanted to try the DIY ringflash just to see if I can do it but never have the time. How long did it take you to put it together?

Maybe an hour all said and done, but like I said I did a pretty terrible job and glued my hand to various things on multiple occasions. I used what I learned from the crappy first try to start putting together a second one, and I'm being a bit more careful now so it's taking a little longer, but I'll post some results when I'm done after work today.
