I recently did a pic with my son, and i did the selective colour, but i put a black filter over the top first to dull down the colour, giving it a soft colour look and then selective coloured the photo
Here is an example of what i did
But the photo looks great!

Thanks everyone! I like the ideas about desaturating the leaf and/or adding a bit of color back to the whole photo- I think that would definitely help...it wouldn't be such a harsh contrast with the black and white photo.
candleman - I agree with you more and more every day. Selective color is something I did all the time when I first started PP, and I thought it was "cool". I've gotten away from it because it tends to draw the eye to all of the wrong places. This photo just jumped out as something that mind lend itself to the technique. |
