Default Does this work?

I have been going through some older photos and correcting them (now that I understand how to do it in Photoshop). This one was slightly overexposed, so I darkened the shadows and bumped up the mid-tone contrast (it was shot in jpeg.....I have learned my lesson...shoot in raw). What do you think of the appearance color/contrast/exposure-wise?

I am also wanting feedback on the "pose".

Nikon D 50
f-stop f/4.8
focal length 190mm
flash did not fire.

TIA

It's not a bad shot, I can't get my eyes off the blown out highlights on her face. The rest of the composition works for me. I think I'd like it a lot better if her face was turned slighty toward the camera.

Is there anyway of fixing the blown out highlights on her face? I agree, it would look better if the face was turned a bit more toward the camera.
Thanks for the comment.

I'm somewhat new to photography and don't know all the guidlines/rules of shooting yet, but I feel that if the subject was more to the right of the picture. (which would mean more emptiness and background on the left. I think it kinda adds a little mystery in addition to a contrast of action to no action.

I like the shot overall, but she looks a tad blue to me. That's an easy fix though

I agree, it seems to have a rather cold colour cast. I'd warm it up a bit personally. Otherwise, I think that the contrast looks good and the pose is quite friendly looking. You could play with a crop to take her out of the middle more, but I find the overall look of it pretty good.

Nicole and Haj,

You both are a great example why this critique section is so valuable. I really appreciate your feedback. When i find my glasses, I will open up PS and adjust the color.

Thanks,

Anne

Default Adjustments to photo

I have tweeked the portrait some more, bringing in more warmth and slightly deeper shadows for a little more contrast. To those who commented that the original looked a little cool, you were right. There are still blown out highlights where the light hit her forehead and lips...do you think I should work on those areas or do you like it?
