Default Does this work?

I am wondering if this photo interests you, how does it make you feel when looking at it, and if the soft focus on her face bothers you. Any other comments are appreciated! Also, how do I get my photos to show directly on the forum...?

Yes, the focus is off. It's not that it's a soft focus, but it's just blurry. With such a quick movement, you needed to:

- use a faster shutter speed to capture her head movement. Her face seems to be ok, but her hair is a distraction. Freezing her hair would be better, in my opinion;
- use wider aperture (lower f/stop) to compensate for some more light due to fast shutter speed reducing your ambient light, plus some nice DOF;
- possibly slightly higher ISO to compensate for faster shutter speed;
- adjusting strobe light output, as you do need to add more exposure to the photo anyway. It feels a little under exposed as it is and bringing out more light will help bring more details to the motion you are trying to capture.

Other than that, the picture is ok. I don't know what type of emotion you are trying to get from the viewer, but I think it's not necessary to ask such a question unless you really were trying to evoke emotion through the image. A great shot doesn't always have to convey or draw out emotion from the viewer.

I would re-take this from a different angle, and that is more close-up and try to get her face when there's less hair covering it. Hard, I know. Her sitting doesn't add anything to the image, really. It's not an easy shot to get but if you nail it, it will be great. Nice use of colours, though, but I do think the vignetting could be done less.

Cheers and hope this helps,

Grace

Click on the "attachments icon"; then, click on browse; after that, choose your picture; next, click on upload; then, right click on your picture's name, and choose "copy link location". You're done on that page; close it and go back to the thread. Click on the "Insert Image " icon, and paste your link.
It's a lot easier to do it if you use Flickr. Just a suggestion.

sweet, thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know how to appropriately capture this shot! I guess I was just going for "different", interesting, something you would take the time to look at as I know sometimes when I view a photo on here, it's not interesting right off the bat and I just move onto the next. Anyway, I am really looking forward to testing out getting photos in motion!

Thank you for letting me know how to post my photos!!
