Default Olympus e-420 Beginner

I haven't seen much on the Olympus e-420 so I thought I 'd start a topic. I am a beginner and I need some general info/ help. I would like info on accessories you would personally suggest such as:

lens
flash
filters

All these bearing in mind I am an amateur and a student (not great big budget not crazy professional)

Thanks

well, for a beginner, i would recommend to use your kit lens to the max. don't indulge yourself to the idea that owning many lenses would give you great shots...

as for flash, it's FL-50r for me. its quite good.

Well I got my E420 last year, so I am not intending to get a new one.. I am still working on my skills with the kit lens, but in the summer I am thinking of getting the 50-200mm.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? Does the SWD make a big difference?

Thanks

I only use a CP on my 12-60 which is a Hoya Pro HD. It's metal and will hold the lens cap pretty well.

The SWD isn't the benefit that it is on E-3, E-30... that being said the 50-200 is an excellent lens.

Hoya (standard) & Tiffen for consumer lenses; B+W & Rodenstock for $$K lenses.

Thanks for the answers.. Just a final question. I know the diameter of my lens, it's written on the lens afterall. But what kind of mount would it be for a filter?
I was looking the B+W website and they have loads of mounts. How could I find what mount my lens has?

Thank you guys

You can download their handbook http://www.schneideroptics.com/info/...dbook_Full.pdf and read all about it from p56.

I'm not sure what Series Mount is and Bayonet mount is for Hasselblad and Rollei medium formats.

Mostly, you will be buying the screw mount and you can read about the rest from their handbook.
