Default Ideas please - on adding a third axis to a macro rail

I recently purchased a 2 axis macro rail & find that I want move the camera thro' the third axis as well. Has anybody experience of converting the 'standard ebay available' rail adding Z to X & Y ?

Could you put up a photo of it as it is, or even a link to a photo on e-bay, we might be able to come up with something if we know what it looks like.

Um... forgive me, but couldn't you just raise the column on your tripod to do the z-axis?

Not if the column is horizontal or worst still at an angle (I use a Benbo tripod). What I am looking for is the ability to finely adjust the camera position thro' all 3 axis.
