Don't know if this has been posted before, so excuse the redundancy if it has.
This is a fairly comprehensive list of external fashes (strobes) and their measured trigger voltages. A lot of DSLRs and electronic 35mm cameras can't handle the high trigger voltages of some older model flashes (for ex. most EOS DSLRs have a hot shoe max trigger voltage tolerance of only 6V), so this list is good to consult before buying that used Vivitar 283 which could fry your camera.
