Problem is the heads on my flashes are drastically different... :/ Got to come up with some sort of system to allow for the grid to fit on all of them.

I need another cactus v4 so I can have a 3 flash setup. My poor SB-24 is sitting on the side while I use my 580 EX II.
Check out the design of the Honl grid. It works pretty well, and adapts easily to different sized heads.

Honl Photo 1/8 Speed Grid for Portable Flash

I am surprised to see it costs $29.95 (plus the speed trap) -- I thought it was much cheaper.

Be sure your design keeps the straws away from the flash. Straws melt easily.

Iv seen his stuff very nice but that is actually without the speed strap so tack on another 9$ so a grid spot for 40$? im broke no way... I need to buy some corrugated plastic and make one. David Hobby in his seminar shows the effect of different length grid spots I want to make like 4 or 5 different ones.

I think the Honl grids must've gone up in price since I bought mine. I didn't mean my post to be a suggestion to buy them. Instead it was a suggestion to look at the design for ideas on how to fit one grid spot to different sized heads -- and how to keep the straws/plastic away from the face of the flash.

Default Archery Bullseye

I have been getting a lot of inquiries about how I took this shot, so I thought I'd share.

Bullseye (1 of 1)-2

Here's the setup. I used my on camera SB900, and used a slaved strobe on the left through a light box. A simple reflector on the right provided just enough on the side to give me good even illumination. Don't underestimate the power of reflectors...they're cheap, and you can use just about anything sturdy and white to do the job (cardboard, posterboard, or a hanging sheet.

The whole timing of the shot is another issue. Thanks for looking.

Afraid so. There was no way for me to get the drop in the center along with the arrow in the center, so I had to shop the arrow in. Even in the pic it looks a bit off-center, so maybe if I find a way to suspend the arrow slightly off-center, I can get the drop in just behind it. ....another night's project.

Sounds like a daunting project. You must have the patience of a saint...but the results are sure worth it.

btw, thanks for your posts - they keep me inspired.
the coroplast came today and i put together a grid for the sb-24. I Very tight spot, no light leak from the back.
