Have you taken a look at Lee Varis's Skin? That one keeps turning up in recommendations.

L,S,andM is a great textbook on off-camera lighting. It is pretty dry (it is a textbook after all) but there is a ton of great information. It has a decent amount of drawings and esample photos. It is a good read, even if you already know what you're doing.

It's not a book, but Strobist contains a wealth of information on lighting.

Light, Science & Magic is well worth the time to read - even if it is a little more difficult to comprehend. Invest the time and reap the rewards.
"The Moment It Clicks" and "Hot Shoe Diaries" by Joe McNally are very informative and very entertaining to read. (Funny stories and lots of useful illustrations)

I agree that Light, Science & Magic is a great book, and well worth the read.
I bought Master Lighting Guide for Portrait Photography by Christopher Grey. It shows lighting diagrams, and the results. It even has some sections where he starts out with one light, then shows the difference by adding another light or reflector. I've found it very helpful. |
