Default Christmas lighting

Here are the three shots only seconds appart. All I was doing was changing the automatic settings.
christmas0806

setting that are different (focal length is the same, it was point and shoot)
Exposure time 1/40
ISO 400
Autoflash flash fired

christmas0807
Exposure time 1/40
ISO 320
Autoflash flash fired

christmas0810
Exposure time 1/4ISO 640
No flash.

The low ISO is picking up that foggyness. On the other two pictures of the Nativity (What happened here) the ISO was 200 on both. I am checking pictures taken between them to see what I may have done as there is a 10 minute difference on the other two.

The ISO will change depending on the scene the camera sees: your position changes between the first two images, so the camera isnt seeing the exact same scene. The "fog" in the second image is NOT a result of the ISO change: it's only 1/3 of a stop, and its a stop DOWN not UP. That's external.

The third image is "nicer" because it's showing the atmosphere: there's no blaring flash to blow everything out of proportion.
