Default Kit Lighting

This kit is under $200. I would normally shoot in a small space indoors. Would prob only use when the weather is bad. It has three lights

Smith Victor KT750 750-Watt Thrifty Photoflood Kit. Has anyone used this, or think it would be a good buy? Here is the link...http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/EP4462180.htm

Light. At least that is where my head is right now... And by small, I mean a 15x20 room and sometimes larger

In that small of a room I would think 750 is overkill. That one that ends in 12 mins is FREE shipping too, but it's only 2 umbrellas & light, no spot light

I need to research more, but I assume that the you can change the bulbs to a lower wattage...just some add on stuff I will have to buy and change based on the amt of light needed, but I do want one with a carry case...

Pat --

I think you will be disappointed. I had the 500-watt version, 3-lamp version. Never took a picture with it. The lights are unbelievably hot. REALLY hot. On the kit I had, there was no dimmer, so it was all or nothing with the lights. (Maybe a dimmer would have worked, but not part of the kit.) The stands are ok quality, I guess, but umbrellas were small and shoot through only.

I'd say do your research on this one. I'd think it would be money better spent to get your strobe off the camera altogether and, perhaps, save for a second strobe.

FWIW

Stay away from those.

If your going to get ebay stuff stick witht he Square perfect stuff. Its cheap and it actually works pretty dam good. I have played around with them and my buddy just bought a kit and he loves it.

Yeah, I did rwad that those lights run really hot, so I have been looking around some more. The square ones seem interesting...

I am not married to ebay by any means. Actually, I prefer to go in the store even though its a bit more, but I just prefer to touch and see b4 I buy... BUT if on-line is waaay better, I will do it.
