i will try and snap a photo of my "light tent" later this evening. i used a white posterboard as a continuous background, and like i said i just used one speedlight. i'm pretty sure it was attached to my camera at the time...but not positive. i'm going to be doing another shoot with the rest of my snakes like this soon, so i will let you know how it's done!

i know there was a bit of post-tweaking (the corners were not solid white, so all i did was erase the dark parts)

I think the snake photo was lit from the top, as the shadows show.

to be honest, i think the most efficient way to achieve what i think you want would be to make or buy yourself a light box. the white panels on the side would diffuse the light, and blow out the background to some extant.
