Rim Light Help

Hi guys.

Another one from the weekend.

I wanted to do a rim light silhouette and this is what I got.



Exif:

Camera Nikon D3000
Exposure 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture f/16.0
Focal Length 35 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Subject Distance 2.51 m
Metering Mode Multi-segment

SB900
1/8 power I think
Zoomed to 105mm

I know the light is slightly off centre, joys of self portrait. What would be the best way to increase the halo effect around the head? Back off the zoom on the SB900!

Are there any good low key single strobe tutorials floating about?

All help is greatly appreciated.

I think you've got the idea.
Zoom out...maybe to 35-50mm and up the power to 1/4 or 1/2 and see what you get.
The light will spread a little further around you and the increased power might make it pop a little more.
