Default Stands and adapters

I'm thinking about piecing together the parts instead of purchasing kits because I desire long lasting quality. So I was wondering what exact model of light stands are good for their price. I'm trying to look for air-cushioned ones, and ones that can be raised >8ft. Also looking for the same opinions about swivel adapters. The idea that I gather is to get ones that have metal inserts ... i think. The 'kits' that I see on B&H which have quite attractive pricing usually have things that I can live with, but not exactly on my wish list. i.e. umbrellas/softboxes that are too small, or stands that are not tall enough.

Anyways, TIA.

I got a Nikon branded kit a few years ago to start with: still use it. Its a 9ft air cushioned stand, swivel adaptor and convertible 43" umbrella. Works a treat.

That kit is 10 bucks less at Henrys, but still pricey. You are gonna pay around the same when you piece together a good stand, umbrella, back and umbrella holder.

Studiobin is the least expensive I have seen around Canada with $45 for an air cushioned stand.... StudioBin – Light Stands They have umbrellas & softboxes etc. I have never bought anything from them, so I can't comment on service or quality.

That is indeed the correct kit. I got mine at Henry's, and on sale. So it wasnt nearly as expensive.
