I have 1x 430EXII on a PT-04 trigger
thinking about: 1) YN560 x1 2) Nissin di866 and putting all three on two sets of cactus v5's. Now, for using 2x flashes in a softbox, is it a better idea to get identical flashes? From the choices I made, I'm sure you can see that I'm going the budget route, so I'm more inclined to select a softbox 'kit' or an umbrella 'kit' that includes a light stand as well, plus an extra taller one up to 8 ft. Most of these come with brackets that hold one flash only, are they replacement double or tri- flash brackets that are universally adaptable with these softbox or umbrella kits? Or it depends? TIA

Here you go.
Lastolite - Triflash Three Pocketflash Shoe with Umbrella Tilt head You just need to figure out what softbox will fit over two flashes in this configuration. or even this: http://www.adorama.com/PFDSHFK.html or this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Umbrella.html

the softboxes in a kit will probably not fit a dual-tri flash setup...

i was thinking of 1 umbrella kit, 1 softbox kit, and 1 high stand.
Still wondering what kind of dual/tri brackets fit in a softbox, and if it's a good idea to use different flashes in the same softbox or umbrella

Flash is flash. The problem you're going to run into is if one flash is older than another or if they have different color temps. You can solve that problem by shooting a wb target (18% grey card or something along those lines) before you shoot the model and just use that for your wb for the rest of that lighting setup.
So two or three flashes from multiple brands won't affect you. Your using all of them together to pump out more light towards your target. Can't help you with what softbox would fit that set. Like I said, I just use a larger umbrella with mine. If I need more control on where the light goes then I feather the light onto the subject until I get the effect I'm looking for. I could also just take down part of the black covering on the umbrella and use it as a partial shoot through to control my light that way as well.

The 4 square allows you to mount 4 speedlights in a softbox..... You could always only use 2 of the mounts...
