Hey guys,
I came up with this idea the other day (I searched the net for it and didn't see it, but if it's already known, sorry). My daughter used to make these Elmer's Glue bookmarks (here's an example: Glue Bookmarks | Remembering the Y Kid). So it occurred to me that it may make a unique flash gel. I gave it a stained glass look and fired the flash through it. It seems to work pretty well. You can see slight color changes throughout the picture. I don't have any examples yet, since I need to experiment with it, but I thought I'd share the idea out there for folks who, like me, love to tinker with stuff. Let us know if you try it.

Guys, here are some examples. I set the flash to cast various shadows so that you could see the results of the color gel. Check out the edges of the shadows.
You can also see the slight color changes in the background. Aside from cropping, no PP was done to the pictures. I put the gel next to the flash and put a DIY gridspot on top to keep the colors from blending together. I think the results are kind of interesting, but I don't have any real ideas as to application. Does anyone here have any?

How are they with heat? A full pop of say a SB-24 or a Canon 580EXII will melt plastic. I have even burnt a hole in a rosco cto gel.. The darker the more heat gets put on them..

I don't know yet, to be honest, but I doubt it would hold up long. I thought about putting both pieces on the end of a short snoot to avoid that problem, but I haven't done it yet.
