Default What is this type of lighting call?

Could anyone tell me what this type of lighting is called and how to get it like this?

Looks like on-camera flash to me. Not sure if a snoot or grid-snoot was used on the flash head or if a vignette was added during post production.

What do you like about the lighting here?

It looks like direct, built-in camera flash, but whoever shot it either used a snoot (tube which focuses the light into a tight beam), or simply formed a fist with their hand and shot through it.

oh so an ordinary built-in flash without a snoot cannot do that circular lighting/shadow effect right? of course aside from the vignette after post-production.

I'm betting it's not even snooted. I have a 11-18 lens and if I'm to shoot in a tight area like that at 11mm, the on-camera flash will produce that exact same effect.
