Default Landscape locations near Melbourne

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew of some good areas to shoot landscapes near Melbourne, Australia?

When I say near I'm talking an hour or two drive really.

I could obviosusly go off and wonder various places but my knowledge of the surrounding areas is limited as I've only just moved over here from the UK. That said, I know the Mornington Peninsula reasonable well (all things considering) so I'm looking to try some different places.

Thanks.

Default Landscapes to shoot around Melbourne

The Otways past Geelong have some nice waterfalls forests and coastline. Macedon Ranges has some amazing private gardens that have open days! Brisbane Ranges National Park in Spring had amazing wildflowers. Melbourne has a lot of diverse native vegetation from tall forests in the East to grasslands and grassy woodlands in the west! It really depends on what your interests are.

Hi Jay,

Definatly the Dandenongs... theres a fantastic lookout called Sky High... or even jump on Puffing BIlly and jump off at random stations and go for a wander...

The great ocean road as others have mentioned and also try the Alpine region up in the top north of the state... theres some fantastic country towns just waiting for some shots....

Gippsland is also another beautiful place, for more of a rainforresty feel...

and if your looking more for the beach/urben shot then try down on the foreshore at Frankston... a fantastic lookout over the bay is called Olivers Hill... You can see the curve of the city around the bay and also get the beautiful lights.

Goodluck and can't wait to see what you come up with! =)
