Default Tilt-Shift: The Beach From The 20th Floor

Hello DPS!
This is my first attempt at post-producing a tilt-shift shot in CS5. This was taken from my friend's apartment on the 20th story of a beach-side condo. I would like you to constructively criticize the tilt-shift and it's composure. And yes, I know miniature worlds don't have a sky, I noticed it a tad to late. Thank you!

From a non-tilt shifter-ite, I think this looks good. My preference though is to see people in those scenes, and a beach scene would have been neat (though you can't always control those elements). That being said - the picture you took seems to be in line with what other's have done, so no criticisms from me!

I love the exagerrated colours and the mini-world feel you've got there.. Because the sky is plain blue, you don't need to worry so much, it could easily have been a back drop. The composition is good too.

However I wonder if this wouldn't be more suited to being in the PP thread, since it's the PP you want a critical look at?

Thank you to both of you! I agree, people would have added a nice element to this picture!
And yes, from now on I'll move my PP pictures to that section! Thank You!

This works to an extent, however the white building should be completely in focus.

Tilt-shift works by using extreme depth of field in long-distance shots to make the real world look miniature, as if a macro lens was being used to shoot a model.

However, the fact that this is an 'imitation' tilt-shift is given away by the blurred top-half of the white building, when in fact because it is level with the base of the building, it should be within the plane of focus, if you see what I mean.
The same applies to the grey building behind it, which is more blurred at the top when it should be roughly the same from top to bottom, although this is less noticeable.

Apart from that, I like the colours and think they add to the 'toy' feel of the shot, the composition is nice and I like the square format.
