I like this look, so I decided to spend a couple minutes and give it a try in my backyard. Shot with a 50mm 1.8, Av mode with ISO at 100, manual focused on chair. (set WB too, no Auto here) Stitched together about 20 frames in Microsoft Image Composite editor, which did it in about 1/10 the time of CS5. Not perfect, but this was just to see if it worked well. If you spent enough time, and didn't pick a subject like moving trees like I did, it would work really well I think. very time intensive though. This is 10 minutes of work including shooting.

I'll try to turn it of next time. I have a Canon EOS XS.
Thanks for the help.
Marco, I think the main problem you are having is focus. You have to pick one part of the image to focus on, leave manual focus on and don't adjust it at all after finding the "in focus" subject. That is what creates the blur you are looking for, most of your shots will be slightly to severely out of focus.

Your image has a sweet 3D feel to it.

I can make a sandwich and photoshop would still be working on stitching. I must have a slow computer.
