Default Spring Has Sprung

Spring Has Sprung

I decided to take part in a contest with the title of "Spring." There wasn't anymore advice or direction so I wanted to make sure I did something that would get the judges' attention.

I had this idea of a cracked egg with a spring inside, but inside the spring would be a supposedly dead chick (stuffed animal). I went to the store and walked through the toy section trying to find the right chick but couldn't...

So, I cracked an egg and placed a spring from my son's bounce toy inside of the two halves. I put my D300 on my Feisol tripod and used the 'get low' feature to basically be at ground level. Then, I noticed a few flowers that were in bloom in my yard so I picked them and placed them behind the egg/spring.

With my Tokina 100 macro lens at f/3.2 and my camera at 1/800th of a second, I took the shot. This gave me good focus on my subject but caused the grass in the background to go a pretty, blurry green.

I won the contest...

Funny play on words, indeed. Love the DOF and the vivid colors. Good luck with the contest.
