If a 365 is too challenging, here's a site doing a weekly project for 2010: PhotoChallenge.org » 2010 Challenge

Hello! Well, having (until recently - October) been in your shoes with "only a point and shoot", I would have to say a 365 project is a great idea! I am thinking about doing this myself!

In my humble opinion, the camera/equipment isn't the only consideration when taking pictures. There are also things such as composition, lighting, subject, etc. Not to mention, depending on the point and shoot, some of them are pretty sophisticated in their own right. I have taken some amazing "macro" photos with my point and shoot (as seen here):

Grasshopper

It is all a matter of patience and perserverance (is that even spelled correctly?). Anyway, take pictures of everything - maybe a different "theme" for each day, week or month. As you go, decide what subject matter you find most appealing and, at the end of your 365, when you have your DSLR, you will be that much more prepared!

Have fun!
Christine

I gave up trying before... just for space, that's all... my RAW files were overwhelming my harddrive.

But I might try this year.

I'm off to a rocky start, I'm having some technical difficulties, my photo is on my computer but there is some kind of weird glitch when getting it to upload to my flickr, but I won't give up! It will be there sooner or later.

Also, I'm gonna add everyone from this thread to my Flickr contacts if you don't mind. That way I can remember to look at everyone's progress!
ETA: I'm T*L*C on Flickr, just so you don't think some crazy person is adding you. At least not a random crazy!

Technical difficulties as well, but only because my card reader isn't here. So, I have a shot, I just haven't posted it. Hoping to borrow a card reader tomorrow. So I'm trying to start. It might have been at 11pm, but I am trying to start.
