I think you might get more responses if you post in the General Chit Chat or the Other Digital Photography Gear section.

I live in Florida, so I can't help.

But, I do think there have been several threads on this topic over the past few months.

Hi judenoypi and welcome to DPS. We have fairly cold and damp winters here in England but the only cold related problem I have ever had (given that as far as your camera is concerned, common sense procedures should prevail) is that the battery runs down much quicker if you dont keep it warm. Always keep your spare well wrapped up. Look forward to seeing some of your shots soon. PAUL

Check your manual...the manual for my 450D has a section on how to avoid condensation.

You'll find that the problem isnt so much the camera as it is your fingers freezing.

Very true! A friend of mine uses these and I think I'll be getting myself a pair.

When you come back inside from the outdoors, put your camera in an air tight bag while it comes up to temperature. If it comes in contact with warm humid air while it's still cold, you'll get condensation. If you let it come up to temperature in an air tight bag you can avoid the problem.

Also, keep your spare batteries inside your coat to keep them warm to get a little more life out of them.

Ditto. I've done ridiculous stuff like fall face-first into deep snow, with my camera (no lens cap!) around my neck. It got buried... and came out with no problems. Cold won't do any permanent damage (even condensation isn't the world's worst problem), but it will reduce your battery life.
