Default Camera Raw

Hello all

Can someone please point me io the direction of a tutorial on the use of Camera Raw?

I have used the search function, but as you can image the two words are in nearly every post.

I have undertaken my first shoot in RAW and everytime i open Photoshop Elements i am confronted with Ramera Raw.

What does this do that Elements cant?

Any help appreciated.

Before you can edit a raw file in Photoshop elements it needs to be converted into an image file. This is where camera raw comes in. PSE wouldn't know what the file looks like as it doesn't understand raw data.

Camera raw allows you to control this development process. You can set the white balance, exposure compensation, recovery, fill and black point. Change the contrast, saturation, clarity etc and control noise reduction. Have a play with the sliders to see what they do, it doesn't affect your original file so no harm done. Once you have slected all of your develop settings camera raw will create a PSD image file using the raw data and your settings.

I've never seen a turtorial on using the version of camera raw that comes with PSE, try searching for you tube videos. Its worth bearing in mind that the version of camera raw that comes with PSE is a cut down verion of the Lightroom develop module/Photoshop camera raw so some of the turtorials for that may cross over.
