Default Is This Bragging?

I can't help but feel a some pride in the fact that one of my threads (How To Make A Four and Half Year Old Creepy) has gone over 2000 views (and plenty of comments, too).

A big "THANKS!" to everyone who's had a look and commented.

Don't see that as bragging. Just acknowledging the fact that your thread saw lots of activity. Nothing wrong with that.

I dunno, i have one over 5,000 views and roughly another half dozen in the mid 3,000's.

Never felt the need to have that acknowledged.

Thanks... I'll try not to pull a muscle, as Max suggested.

Perhaps you're right, Max. But then again, perhaps your indifference has to do with a few things;

1. You've been a member of DPS for almost a full year longer than I have.

2. I'm guessing you've also got more than my 8 months of experience using a DSLR and photo editing software.

3. You've got more equipment than I'd know what to do with (judging by the equipment list in your signature). This sort of relates to #2.

4. You do take some really great shots which you are very quick to post to other people's threads in an effort to "explain" your critiques of their images. However, a little reading between the lines might give someone the impression that it's also about, "Lookit me and what I can do!"

5. From what I can see, most of your highly viewed threads are in the "How I Took It", "Tutorials" and "General Chit Chat" sections. Just an observation... draw your own conclusions... I know I have. (Not like mine isn't in the "Before and After" section so you can draw the same conclusions about my thread.)

Shall I go on?

I still think it's pretty amazing to have so many people show an interest in something that I put the time and effort into making enjoyable for myself.

The defintion of brag/bragging as found on dictionary.com:

–verb (used without object) 1. to use boastful language; boast: He bragged endlessly about his high score.

–verb (used with object) 2. to boast of: He bragged that he had won.

–noun 3. a boast or vaunt.
4. a thing to boast of.
5. a boaster.
6. an old English card game similar to poker

There are varying degrees of bragging. I think your post fits #4 more than any of them.

It's cool when something you create generates interest. As far as posting and pointing it out, that will probably get you negative and some positive attention.

Just trying to answer your question honestly and nicely. :-). Keep up the good work on contributions.

Thanks for the honesty, PnwGuy. I had thought quite a bit about whether or not to create this thread. Mostly because I didn't want to sound like, in the grand scheme of things, this was out of the ordinary for others here on DPS. But I also figured if people are willing to create threads which tout the fact they've hit 100, 500, 1000, etc. posts then this sort of thread wouldn't be so out of the ordinary. And I agree that it is very, "... cool when something you create generates interest" which is the other reason behind creating this thread.
